Lichfield Sharks are the Champions!

How proud are we, our first season sponsoring the U10s Lichfield Sharks & they win their league!

Many congratulations to all the players & to Matt & Andy for their tireless coaching & training efforts.

Sharks travelled to Castle Vale for a late kick off, in terrible conditions, with a squad depleted by sickness.

Castle Vales recent results suggested they would be much improved and although Sharks forced the lead early on the game was a hard fought battle by both teams.

Just two minutes into the game Tom Hurcombe forced the ball home from close range following some good work from Jimmy Horton who had started the game in determined fashion.

Castle Vale launched their own attacks but Sharks were equal to them and the midfield trio of Hurcombe, Kelly and Henstock worked tirelessly to stop any pressure building on the Sharks goal.

On the odd occasion Castle Vale broke through the Sharks midfield the impressive Rio Young was there to mop up the danger.

In the second half Castle Vale started brightly and In the 22nd minute they found an equaliser from a top corner screamer that gave the faultless Matt James no chance.

The Sharks were not going to give up lightly though and Jimmy Horton and Ben Henstock were causing all sorts of havoc in the Castle Vale half as they launched wave after wave of attacks with some impressive runs.

In the 24th minute Sharks had a corner and Liam Kelly put enough curl on it to beat the keeper and see it bounce in off the unfortunate Vale defender who was desperately scrambling to clear his lines.

At 1-2 the Sharks were growing in confidence and continued to attack the home teams goal with Josh Taylor working hard to add a goal to his impressive performance.

It was however Jimmy Horton who finally put the game to bed with a smart finish to give the Sharks a 1-3 lead in the 33rd minute.

Some resolute Defending from Lewis Pass and Jake Minton ensured that Castle Vale were unable to find a way back in to the game and Sharks walked away with 3 points and the league title out of reach of their competitors.

MOTM; Jimmy Horton, worked his socks off from start to finish and scored another vital goal for the cause
