Lichfield Fuse Festival July Friday 6th July – Sunday 8th July

With only days to go, Lichfield’s Fuse Festival organisers are planning a packed weekend of live music, comedy, story telling, and other entertainment all for free.

The event, which takes place in Lichfield’s Beacon Park between Friday July 6th and Sunday July 8th continues Lichfield Arts tradition of bringing fine local and national talent to perform in Lichfield.

Kicking of on the Friday, the main tent sees rock, blues and Folk music. The Silvana Family band will kick things of with their blend of classic and modern rock music, from Free to Metallica, whilst the Alfie Romeo Band from Burntwood and Devon will ply their signature rocking blues sound, and finishing of the night will be State of Undress with their raucous blend of folk sounds and a more rocky backing.

Over in the Acoustic tent, a number of local bands will be playing, with Cul De Sac, Analog Underground,, Pencil Face, and local favourite Memorob all playing their varied musical styles.

If music is not your thing, than there is comedy in the Workshop and Performance tent, with Barbara Nice, Ben Hutchinson, Danny Sutcliffe, Will Duggan and Katie Mulgrew all performing.

More entertain is lined up for the Saturday, with music in the main tent from Noon, starting with a showcase from Mas Records and Neon Sound Studios, and featuring Tyler Mae, Darkness is Blinding, Sabotage, Fitz, and We are Saviours. The music continues with a myriad variety for all music fans, from the folk and mediaeval styles of Ash Mandrake, the American sound of Rebel Creek, the Indie Pop styles of the Artie Fufkins, Beatles Songs from The Born Again Beatles, the folk rock songs of Bleeding Hearts and the funky brass infused Fat Digester. The Acoustic Tent runs from Noon with an Open Mic event, and  then more music from Amelia Harrison, Chloe-Blossom-Whitelaw and the exciting blues rock band May Contain Nuts. The music continues in the Acoustic Tent with well known local musician Merv Spence, Secret Son, local singer songwrite Chris Elliot and his band, local folk duo Barricades Rise, alternative modern rock from Stride, old time blues and country from Jim Mcshee, the all out rock sound of Café De Kashmir, before local favourites Phaser finish the night with their cheeky musical styles.

As well as all of this, the Saturday will also feature music from The Lichfield Lighhouse Company, story telling fro Cath Edwards and Sharon Carr-Wu, an interactive Ukulele workshop, Dance workshops and displays from Charlie’s Angels Danc Company, Timothy Hardington, performing the works of Charles Dickens, in character, a Zumba Workshop, and the always popular silent disco.

Sunday starts early with a Church Service, whilst music comes from Ash Mandrake, the Kaleidoscope Choir, and local folk ensemble Wildfire Folk, the brassy jazz sounds of the Phoenix Big Band, and the exotic style of Flamexicano! The day also sees the performance of Circus! Fuse 2012’s outreach project, an Art Exhibition, and displays from Coruscate Theatre, as well as the Arts tent, where people can find out more about local arts groups.

Tim Perks, Fuse Festival Chairman said: ‘The team at Fuse has put a lot of work and event into Fuse 2012, and we aim to improve on each festival year by year. We feel that Fuse 2012 is a festival we can be proud of, with a wide range of musical forms to able to everyone, an Outreach project that has engaged local groups, and comedy and spoken word events to appeal to all the family’.

As well as the live entertainment, the Festival will also include a number of stalls selling a wide range of food and crafts, as well as an Environmental day, and the arts tent, where art from local artists will be on display.
