Concert: Friday 20th May, St Peter’s Church Yoxall, 7.30pm
“The maturity and sensitivity of the playing by all members of the ensemble was a delight; they played as one instrument” Galloway Gazette
Following the wonderful success of the 2009 concert, local violinist Emily Holland is bringing her String Quartet, the Benyounes Quartet, back to perform in St Peter’s Church, Yoxall. The Quartet were overwhelmed by the positive response from the last concert and is very much looking forward to returning.
Former leader of Lichfield and Rugeley Youth Orchestra and Staffordshire Youth Orchestra, Emily went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music where the Benyounes Quartet was formed. Together, the Quartet continued to study for a Masters in Chamber Music in Geneva Conservatoire with the revered Gabor Takacs-Nagy (founder of Takacs Quartet).
The Quartet have recently been awarded a Junior Fellowship at Trinity College of Music in London which they will take up in September 2011. They have been continuing to perform concerts throughout the UK and at some of the most prestigious festivals in Europe- Verbier, Aix-en-Provence and Aldeburgh.
This time, as well as an evening concert, the Benyounes Quartet will be giving a workshop in St. Peter’s School, Yoxall during which the pupils will be exploring a quartet by the colourful and impressionistic French composer, Ravel. The evening programme will include this Ravel quartet as well as an incredibly moving piece by the young Mendelssohn, written when he was only 18 years old.
The concert will be held at St Peter’s Church, Yoxall, on Friday 20th May, at 7.30pm. Tickets on the door- £8/under 16s free. Free parking at St Peter’s School. For information about the quartet please visit www.benyounesquartet.com
