Design and all it entails is my passion, as proprietor of Love Me Interiors I felt as a first blog for The Best of Lichfield to help you get to know us a little, a bit of insight into what drives the passion and inspires us to do what we do would be a good starting place.
The German Pavillion, Barcelona International Exhibition, 1929, a magnificient example of modernist architecture, the pavillion was created by Mies Van Der Rohe and for us the pavilion exudes inspiration. With key materials of glass and marble, the intertwining planes of structure make the space appear exposed and transparent. However having visited the pavilion I was dumbfounded by it's beauty and elegance, the linear nature of the structure does not intimidate, Instead I found that the subtle occurrences of the gentle more organic nature of the ponds and the shapely silhouette of the enclosed female sculpture provided the pefect balance.
To me this stunning example of architecture envelops a mass of inspiration and epitomises the traits that have given me so much passion for interior architecture and design. Modernism is a language of architecture that I take great pleasure from and understand and it was learning and accepting this that has helped me to draw on and understand my clients design preferences enabling me create bespoke and quality proposals to reflect this.
There are many many influences from art, fashion, textiles, architecture and nature that all cross boundaries and intertwine influencing each other, forming trends. But as relevant as this is ultimately I believe there is no right or wrong in design. Your style whether it be minimal, organic, traditional, classical, hi tech or all of those mixed together, it is simply about how you apply it effectively to look both stunningly beautiful and at the same time perform a functional role that improves your standard of space x
