Lunchtime Concerts to create an Oasis of Calm

The concerts have been organised by cathedral organist and assistant director of music, Martyn Rawles and will start at 1.15pm and last just over half an hour, perfect for getting back to work in time for the afternoon.

The first is on July 17th when Trio Rosalba (Julia Brewer, Helen Jones, Robert Webb) will play one of Beethoven’s greatest works for chamber ensemble, the Piano Trio N7 in B flat major, Opus 97 (“Archduke”).

On July 24th its Andrew Wyatt, who is Assistant Director of Music, Chester Cathedral, who will play the mighty cathedral organ. 

The other concerts in the series also showcase the cathedral’s historic pipe organ. 

On July 31st Rose Vinter, who is Organ Scholar at Lichfield Cathedral, will put the instrument through its paces, followed by Callum Alger, who is Acting Director of Music at St Peter’s Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton on Aug 7th David Saint, the Director of Music at St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham, on Aug 14th Ashley Wagner, the Assistant Head of Music at St Philip’s Cathedral, Birmingham on Aug 21st, and the series concludes with a concert given by  Nigel Morris, the Assistant Director of Music at St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham. 

All concerts are free of charge with a retiring collection.
