Organised by Lichfield District Council’s countryside team, in partnership with Staffordshire Mammal Group, these informative two-hour sessions allows people to see the different types of mammals that live at Muckley Corner Common.

Using humane traps, the event organisers will collect mammals overnight so that the groups can take a closer look at them. All the animals will be released after the event.

Derek Crawley, president of Staffordshire Mammal Group, said: “We hope lots of people will join us for these sessions. It is a good way to get up close with our most common, but rarely seen, small mammals as well as a chance to learn fascinating facts about them. Please remember to wear sturdy footwear and suitable outdoor clothing.”

The Mammal Tracking sessions are taking place at Muckley Corner Common on Saturday 20 August 2011 from 10am to 12 noon and from 2pm to 4pm.

To find Muckley Corner Common, leave the Walsall Road at Boat Lane (just after the Muckley Corner roundabout) and follow the road round to the site entrance, just before Boat Lane meets the A5.

A session costs £2.50 and can be booked by contacting Denice Deverall at Lichfield District Council on 01543 308183 or by emailing denice.deverall@lichfielddc.gov.uk
