Lichfield District Council’s parks and sports developments teams have joined forces with the MS Society to hold an MS Awareness Day at Beacon Park

The park’s bowling greens will be opened up to all on Wednesday 31st May, between 10am to 1pm, to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (or MS).

It will be a fun way to try a new activity. Staying active when you have MS is important because it can help manage the symptoms, such as muscle stiffening, as well as improve health and mood.

The free session is aimed at anyone living with MS or for anyone who wants to find out more about the condition and how playing bowls could help.

Councillor Iain Eadie, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “Multiple Sclerosis can have many symptoms including problems with sight, movement, sensation and balance, and it’s really important to raise awareness about this condition.

“Although primarily aimed at people who have MS, everyone is welcome to come to this drop-in session. There will be plenty of bowls activities for all abilities on the day, so come along and join in.”
