Born without his right hand, piano star Nicholas McCarthy is at the forefront of British music talent and champions accessibility to music for all. He will perform at Lichfield Cathedral on 31st May to help raise funds for the Chapter House Appeal.
Nicholas drew headlines around the world in 2012 when he became the only one-handed pianist to graduate from the Royal College of Music in its 130 year history. During his UK tour, Nicholas will play pieces from his top ten classical charting album ‘Solo’ and share his motto that “anything is possible.”
The tour is a celebration of determination and three centuries of music played by his left hand alone. It will feature composers as diverse as Liszt, Chopin/Godowsky, Bach, Scriabin, Gershwin, Blumenfeld and others.
This event will act as a fundraiser for the Cathedral’s Chapter House Appeal. The Cathedral is urgently trying to raise £2million to reverse serious water penetration and weathering damage to the Chapter House, which is the only example of an octagonal two-storey Chapter House in the UK, stretched on its west-east axis.
Join Nicholas for an evening of spellbinding musicality, vivid virtuosity, poetic romance and hear the inspiring and uplifting story of one of the world’s truly unique artists.
I am passionate about 'Buying Local' and supporting our local businesses to 'keep the pound' in town, to help grow our economy here in Lichfield.
