Lichfield District Council is inviting children and their families to take part in a free sandcastle competition in Beacon Park’s temporary beach.

The competition kicks off at 11am in the new Beacon Beach, and judging will take place at 4.30pm, with prizes being awarded for the best sandcastles.

As well as the sandcastle competition, there will be lots of fun activities on offer throughout the day, including arts and crafts, outdoor games, 'find the Staffordshire Hoard' competition, stalls and more.

Councillor Val Richards, Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, said: “Come down to the new Beacon Beach on bank holiday Monday to show off your sandcastle making skills. Dig trenches, build bridges and tower your sandcastles high to be in with the chance of winning a prize.”

The competition is open to children under twelve years old. Entry in the sand castle competition is free, but you must provide your own bucket and spade. Buckets and spades can be purchased from the park rangers on the day.

For more information, please contact the park rangers on 01543 308869 or email parks@lichfielddc.gov.uk.
