The second phase started this Monday (12 March 2012). It includes improving the woodland paths - working from Cappers Lane up to Darnford Lane and then through to Ryknild Street, and freshening up the entrances to the park by planting hedgerows and installing new fences.
Work has also started on resurfacing and extending Darnford Lane car park, which is now closed to the public. Work will then start on Ryknild Street car park.
On top of this, new benches and picnic tables will also be added, as will new dog waste and litter bins.
It is hoped the works will be completed later in the spring.
The council’s tree officers and parks team secured £122,555 for these works, including a grant of £77,555 from the Forestry Commission and £45,000 section 106 funding.
