Seed Gathering Sunday
29th September 2011

Beacon Park’s rangers are inviting children to find out more about the park’s woodland this October. At the sessions, children will help the rangers to collect seeds from the park. They will then decorate plant pots with colourful leaves before planting the seeds they have found in them. They can then take these home to take care of them.

Once the seeds have grown into small trees, the children can choose to plant them in their garden or bring them back to Beacon Park to benefit the park’s wildlife.

Councillor Val Richards, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, said: “Local children are invited to help the park rangers collect seeds and decorate their own plant pots. This will be a fun autumnal event, helping young people to discover more about nature and the changing season.”

The Seed Gathering Sunday sessions are aimed at children over the age of five. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. It costs £2 a session, and booking is essential. To book your child’s place, please call Lichfield District Council’s park rangers on 01543 308869.
