The Lichfield Garrick is to bring back its Youth Choir under the leadership of West End and Broadway Musical Director. The new Youth Choir will meet at the Lichfield Garrick from Thursday 12 November, led by musical director Angharad Sanders.
On the announcement of the new Youth Choir, Lichfield Garrick’s Artistic Director, Tim Ford said: “We are delighted to be reigniting this wonderful project and I am thrilled to welcome Angharad to the Garrick. Lichfield’s young people are in for a real treat as Angharad has a wealth of experience and knowledge. I cannot wait to hear the theatre come alive with the sound of young voices.”
Angharad has many years of experience working in theatre and with choirs and singers across the globe. Previous students include Pixie Lott, Layton Williams (Bad Education, Hairspray UK Tour) and Mimi Keene (Eastenders). She has also worked with the young casts of Billy Elliot: The Musical and Matilda on the West End and Broadway and Annie on Broadway.
Angharad spent some time in the United States working with lead actors from TV and films, such as, Pitch Perfect and The Fault In Our Stars. She was a featured tutor on the hit CBBC TV show, School for Stars.
Angharad commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been invited to lead the new youth choir at the Lichfield Garrick and I’m looking forward to working with Tim Ford and the entire team. The choir is open to anyone aged between 13 and 21 and all abilities are welcome.
We will be covering music of all genres and it will be a fantastic opportunity to sing and improve your vocal skills in a friendly and fun ensemble. I am excited to see what the youth of Lichfield have to offer.”
The Garrick Youth Choir will meet every Thursday between 5.30pm and 7pm. Each term costs £55, but as the first term is shorter (November to December) it will only cost £35.
