"Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star
Tony always tended bar
Across the crowded floor, they worked from 8 til 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?"

Can you feel your shoulders shimmy as you sing these amazing lyrics, then you'll be delighted to hear that Barry Manilows Copacabana will be showing at Lichfield Garrick Theatre from 23 to 28 February 2015 and we're sure it will be a sell out!

Starring Jon Lee (from S Club 7) as Tony Starr and Jimmy Osmond (the youngest member of the world-renowned Osmond family) as Sam Silver, the musical, written by Barry Manilow and his longtime collaborators Bruce Sussman and Jack Feldman, has not been seen on stage in the UK for ten years.

Packed with the original songs, dazzling costumes and dynamic choreography, this new production will re-imagine the original stage version of Copacabana, which was first performed in the US in 1991 and has never before been seen in the UK.

Expect to be singing and dancing in the aisles as you listen to a selection of memorable Manilow hits including Dancin’ Fool, Who Needs to Dream, Welcome to Havana and of course, the Grammy award-winning Copacabana (At The Copa).

The tale of romance and stardom features aspiring songwriter Tony working as a pianist in a bar when he meets the gorgeous Lola, who is determined to make it in showbiz. Quickly falling for Lola, Tony does everything he can to assist her attempts to find stardom.

At Manhattan's Copacabana Lounge both start to find fame, before fate steps in and Lola is swept away to Havana to work in a splashy night club. But Lola's new mentor and boss Rico may demand a price for putting her name in lights.

Fancy a great night out? Barry Manilow’s Copacabana is playing at the Lichfield Garrick from Monday 23 to Saturday 28 February 2015 at 7.30pm, with Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost from £22 to £28 and can be booked online or by calling Lichfield Garrick’s Box Office on 01543 412121.
