Debbie’s open day last week raised £330 for our trekking fund with a further £110 going direct to St Giles for the sale of Christmas cards. A worthwhile day all round!
On the first Autumnal day of the year we decided to brave the fountain at the Hedgehog pub. Ron and his team have supported us and St Giles over the past year and have labelled the fountain outside the pub as the St Giles wishing fountain. Equipped with hoes, buckets and St Giles T-shirts for the photos we set to retrieving the coins from the water. A couple of hours later with numb arms and fingers, revived by mugs of hot tea we had a couple of heavy buckets to deal with. After an afternoon cleaning and sorting and a trip to the bank for the machine to do the counting we had £280 plus some Euros and a few other odd, sometimes unrecognisable, denominations, a haul well exceeding our expectations.
Thanks to Ron, his staff and the Hedgehog customers for their continuing support.
We will be continuing to fund raise after the trek until the end of the year so if you missed the open day tea and cakes why not put the 3rd of November in your diary and book yourself in to our Pamper day. Half hour treatments from 2 beauticians and a holistic therapist will be available for £10 a session with half of the money going to St Giles. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available as usual, starting at 11.00am and finishing at 5.00pm. Contact deb.s.phillips@btinternet.com for more information or to book your slot.
