Law on the web is the leading online site in the UK for FREE legal advice and information and they say that information gathered on Social Media is being used as evidence in tribunals and employment disputes, so if you don’t want your boss to see what you write, don’t write it.

To avoid disciplinary action or being sacked, Law on The Web say you should avoid the following:

  • Criticising your boss or customers
  • Calling in sick then posting pictures of yourself at a social event
  • Circulating pornographic material
  • Posting pictures of yourself taking part in something illegal or dangerous in the workplace
  • Blogging about your employment
  • Sharing confidential employment

If you use Social Media, think very carefully what you write and whom you share it with.
