Join Judy Garland as she makes her explosive London comeback at the height of the swinging sixties. This fiercely funny and emotionally charged play finds the once glittering star sparring with her new fiancé, her devoted accompanist, and her destructive addictions. Will she be able to conquer her demons and reclaim her crown as one of history’s great musical icons?
The show features Garland’s most memorable songs The Man That Got Away, Come Rain Or Come Shine, The Trolley Song and of course Somewhere Over The Rainbow. End of the Rainbow is filled with Garland’s legendary tenacity, razor-sharp wit and once-in-a-generation voice.
Actress and television presenter Lisa Maxwell is set to play Judy Garland. Lisa is best known for her role as Samantha Nixon in ITV’s The Bill from 2002 and 2009, and as a panelist on ITV’s Loose Women from 2009 to 2014. Other television credits include EastEnders, The Russ Abbot Show and The Lisa Maxwell Show. Lisa will make her stage acting debut in End of the Rainbow.
The former Loose Women panelist will perform alongside Gary Wilmot as Anthony and Sam Attwater as Mickey.
The musical is written by Peter Quilter. End Of The Rainbow will be directed by Daniel Buckroyd and designed by David Shields.
End of the Rainbow runs at the city centre theatre from Monday 16 May to Wednesday 18 May at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost from £17.50 and can be booked online or by calling the Box Office on 01543 412121.
