It's free to go round, very interesting to find out so much about Samuel Johnson. You get a real feel for him and his life and friends.

The Samuel Johnson museum in Lichfield is an essential visit for a new visitor to the city. For Lichfield residents, you should visit from time to time to remind you about the lustre he brought to our lovely cathedral city.

Fascinating museum about the life, works and times of Samuel Johnson. Free entry. His life is told in order as you ascend the building, do go to the attic as there is a first edition of his dictionary to admire and a copy to interrogate. Also fascinating to see what else was happening in the world. Helpful staff.

I found this a very interesting place. I knew very little about Samuel Johnson and it was interesting to learn more about his life. The short film was particularly good. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I recommend a visit to the Samuel Johnson Birthplace to anyone visiting Lichfield.Visited on
