this is a place we took the grandchildren to and they enjoyed the painting activity that was being done for them also finding the objects they had to find on a sheet of paper and at the end they got a sticker for finding them all we only paid for the painting activity which was just a few pounds every thing else is free

I visited this attraction with my 2 children aged 11 and 7 and they really loved everything about it from the interactive displays to the dressing up. Brilliant and well worth a visit xx

My family and I have visited the town many times and only today did we notice this building and thought we'd go in and have a look. I wasn't familiar with Samuel Johnson but this place soon enlightened me.
We enjoyed all the floors including the basement.

My family and I called into the museum on Monday 7th April. It was very informative of the life of Samuel Johnson. We all thought it well worth the visit and would certainly recommend a visit.

I bought visitors from our German subsidiary here. They loved the way the building is tucked away by the Cathedral, the medicinal herb garden and the opportunity to look around the rooms.

Friendly staff in a very well presented 5 floor Georgian home that contains a rich variety of artefacts: letters, prints, portraits, dictionary and interactive dictionary, and some furniture from Samuel Johnson and his close friends, such as James Boswell and the actor David Garrick.

I've lived locally for 40+ years and passed this places hundreds of times and actually only visited it when relatives from Australia came over. Informative and the staff were friendly and knew their stuff.

The museum offers a clear and insightful picture of Samuel Johnson's life through information panels, artefacts, a short video and interactive displays; the balance is just right between providing plenty of information without overwhelming you with too much to read.
Free entry but well worthy of a generous donation.

Right in the center of the city, and a lovely museum celebrating one of the true characters of our history. Spread over several floors of a real family home from the past. Lots of interesting exhibits and a copy of one of the first issues of his amazing dictionary. Very friendly staff and all very well looked after - highly recommended.
