Amazing place steeped of history. A visit is a must if you are visiting Lichfield. The only complaint and understand it's very costly for the up keep of the cathedral but the way they try to force you to pay donations. But please don't let that spoil a visit to this amazing and beautiful place

Staying in Coventry for a few days and wanting to go somewhere different I decided to revisit Lichfield as it was fairly easy to reach by train, via Birmingham. I haven't been for over 10 years but it is every bit as lovely as I remember. The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable, pointing out the things to look out for and telling me things I hadn't learned on previous visits. I was warmly invited to join in the eucharist and was made very welcome and it was nice to be included in the service which I found very moving. The cathedral is a little apart from the town but in a beautiful setting, with lots of information boards dotted around the town, which made it a very enjoyable experience. I definitely learned more of the history of this lovely little town.

We took our grandchildren and we were there from 10am till 4pm
There was such a lot for the grandchildren to do there were two play areas for them to explore, toilet facilities were spotless
They want to go again in the near future
It's a truly beautiful place to go to and learn and remember everyone that has passed

The National Memorial Arboretum is a place of national remembrance at Alrewas, near Lichfield, Staffordshire. Its objective is to honour the fallen, recognise service and sacrifice, and foster pride in the British Armed Forces and civilian community.
The memorials to all areas of the armed forces is a must see.
