The front of the this wonderful cathedral depicts kings of England back to medieval times. The cathedral has had a long life and a very exciting one at times. Well worth a bid it especially if you manage to catch Evensong

I haven't been into Lichfield Cathedral for a while, the last time it was a beautifully sunny day and the windows let in so much sun it was reverential.
There is now scaffolding up at that end which destroys the ambience of the Cathedral, although there is a fabulous Saxon room to walk around with recent discoveries and the early buildings and carvings inside and out are marvellous. Looks like the outside has had a jet wash too.
I would wait until the window work is finished and get a true picture of how the Cathedral is if you are travelling a distance. I didn't appreciate it when I lived locally. There is a lovely café - The Chapter House at the side of the cathedral and that is well worth a visit too.

I found the cathedral very interesting and beautiful worth a drive down to see , and if your not good at walking for hours the shopping centre is just a nice size as you don't have to walk your feet off , also a craft shop I fell in love with called ( spell bound ) it's full of buttons and beads all kind of things to make, fabulous .

Should be a UNESCO site. One of the finest cathedrals in the world. The finest cathedral close in the country. The Staffordshire Horde is a bonus.

As this was my first visit to Lichfield, the catheral was far bigger and more ornate than expected. A very helpful guide inside took time to help my granddaughter with a 'trail'. Could return many times and find something new each time.
