An inexpensive (£3.00 to park all day and no admission fee) but thought-provoking place to visit. Very worthwhile indeed. Beautiful arboretum with 75miles of walkways around which backs on to the river Tame and national forest (all accessible) This is not a memorial park just for the ‘services’ but other organisations too e.g railway personnel, circus folk etc. People have remembered loved ones by paying for a beautiful tree to be planted in their memory. Gorgeous blossom all around when I visited. There are regular special days (see their website) and on the day I visited it was ‘vintage’ day with 40’s live music, costumes and memorabilia plus a pop up craft market. There is access to the main monument by stairs which is a great shame for veterans in wheelchairs as I walked all the way round but couldn’t see a ramp access. The food in the cafe quickly sold out on the busy day too. Overall a fabulous place to visit and for me a place to remember dear friends from the services sadly departed too early.
