The Arboretum is still a work in progress - especially the planting of the trees and when it is mature it will be truly spectacular. At the moment you get the feeling it is not finished. Very busy on a weekday in May - mostly older people and veterans.

Entrance is free but parking costs £2. It is mostly outdoors and you should plan for poor weather - the self service restaurant was busy, but the food was good value. However there are many other eating options on the road into Lichfield.

We only spent about an hour and a half there but it is a large site with the number of memorials being added to all the time. Gerry says it was a humbling experience and I can only agree.
The restaurant was crowded on our visit because there was a veterans meeting being held so there were blazers, berets and medals everywhere. Yet we weren't made to feel that we were intruding. I hope I will be able to go and pay my respects again soon.

Excellent place to visit. 20 minute drive from Lichfield. I believe you can also get there by bus.
Beautiful grounds and lots of memorials for past wars and conflicts. There is a nice restaurant there also.
It is not designed for the young. Anyone under 30 will probably be bored.
There is a trolley bus that does a guided tour of the grounds. This helps if you have mobility problems.
Allow at least 2-3 hours to do the place justice.

We arrived at 9:30 and left at 3:45pm and we still had not visited the new "remembrance centre". The whole place is fascinating and many of the memorials and gardens very moving. We had sandwiches in the restaurant which were fresh and used good bread and fillings. Allow plenty of time to read all the information boards, as a bit if a history buff finding out more about regiments and other groups really added to the visit.

What a fabulous place to visit, it's so vast that I will need to revisit. Set in lovely grounds with unique monuments remembering people and animals who have served their lives to make what we have today happen. Lovely restaurant inside with a great selection of hot and cold food. The friendly voluntary staff are at hand to provide information and advice. Guided tours are available. It's free to enter and they accept donations for good causes.

This is a well laid out set of individually presented tributes to our historical conflicts.

There are ample parking areas, well signed. Very good and reasonably priced restaurant (self service).

You can travel around the grounds on foot or use the motor train transport complete with commentary (pay).

A wonderful but poignant time spent viewing the commemorative zones.

We visited the National Memorial Arboretum the week end before Armed Forces Day, The site is well laid and we opted to take the land train round and made notes of memorials and place we would walk too after we completed the round trip. The commentary was very informative and interesting. We had lunch in the Arbour Restaurant which was vey good. I would recommend a trip to the Arboretum for every school as an interesting and informative history lesson. This is one place I will return to.

We had a fun and interesting day at the Arboretum, it was lovely to see all the different memorials.

Whilst I would recommend the memorial I wold avoid the cafe and restaurant, both were average to poor; the service was friendly but the food not good, the hot chocolate was weak, the sausage roll was horrible, and when i complained was told that people love them, well I did not.
The soup (Broccoli) was again of a poor quality, and my bread roll stale. All avoidable.

We visited this monument as a family member is listed on the memorial wall. It was an emotional, yet uplifting experience. This is such a peaceful and beautiful place. Everything has been carefully thought out and even though construction work is being undertaken, we didn't find that this spoiled our visit. It is vast and very thought provoking. The restaurant has a good selection of food on offer and the staff are friendly. We did a tour which was very informative. We would definitely visit again.

A very special place to visit. A place to reflect and appreciate the sacrifices the men, women & animals did for us.
Hundreds of memorials are set in beautiful well kept grounds. Friendly helpful staff. Gift shop, chapel, restaurant & coffee shop. Plenty of picnic seating available. There is an additional fee to use a buggy or land train.
Entrance is free. Parking is £3. Tribute Ink is currently on show. A must place to visit.
