As a memorial to the Armed Services and others who served and assisted, this is an ideal place for remembrance, conciliation and hope for the future. Lots of memorials to individual regiments, squadrons, divisions or branches. Individual messages and memorials can also be found amongst the trees. A truly thought provoking place.
Dog-friendliness: As long as the pup is on a short lead it's OK to be here.
Picnic area: Plenty of benches around the grounds to stop, contemplate, and have a little munch. No open fires or bbq allowed. Coffee shop and restaurant are good too.

Five of us visited the Arboretum this week, having booked an afternoon tour with cream tea. What an amazing afternoon, in spite of the inclement weather. Our guide, Tony M spent at least an hour and a half driving us round the immaculate grounds in a covered buggy. We visited many memorials where he explained in detail the history and meanings of each one and future plans. We then had a lovely cream tea in the restaurant when Tony described some of the memorials we had missed because we ran out of time. An excellent afternoon, which we hope to repeat. Thank you Tony.

Although visited on a wet day we started with tea and bacon butties in the restaurant, very reasonable prices, then booked the road train which whilst taking you around all the magnificent gardens and memorials with an informative running commentary, after which we were lucky as the sun came out and we were then able to pick out the places to walk to and spend more time at, it will fill you with a mixture of emotions but this remarkable place is well worth a visit and you can't really do it justice in one day, at £4 to park and entry free we will certainly be returning.

An amazing venue with some very thoughtful memorials. Suitable for the whole family with a stickman trail for children and an onsite restaurant. I was really disappointed that the only way to find the location of a specific memorial was using a screen in the main building to look them up - paper maps cost £2 ("suggested donation" but when you ask for one you are charged) but the map itself only has 15 out of the 400 memorials listed! There must surely be a better way. In this day and age of modern technology, an online map, app or something isn't too much to ask.

What a beautiful yet poignant place to visit. A must-see to experience history and pay the utmost respect to those who lost their lives for us. Immaculate grounds, friendly and helpful staff. Delicious goodies at the restaurant and coffee shop!
The grounds are vast, with much to see and do by way of activities indoors and trails outdoors.
Be warned everything closes by 4pm, sadly. Food and snacks stop being served by about 3pm.

Lovely excellent memorials set in vast grounds. Good walkways, if u want to hire a wheelchair or mobility, you can at a small charge. And there is also a train/buggy to take you around if you don't want to walk. There is also a restaurant and a coffee shop opposite each other. There is plenty here to spend the day and, of course, even better if the weather is good. For meetings/parties, there is also a large function building.
Restrooms: Lovely wide toilets that are disabled friendly and the dryers are low , although the water from some of the taps only trickle out.

I have been waiting to come to The National Memorial Arboretum for years, we picked a glorious day to visit which made an already wonderful day really special. I never served in the services but I realise what those who have served and those who currently do have given so greatly that it should never be forgotten. The site has a lovely restaurant to have a snack or a meal before or after you walk round the site. For those who are disabled like me, you can hire a electric scooter or wheelchair to get around. Don't hesitate to visit it is a sombre but inspiring visit.

Having been here before last year for the remembrance day service, we were here this time for the service on 11th Nov for the 2 min silence, it was very busy and there was a ticketed event going on in the dome, but we stood and watched it with everybody else on the big screen, which was very touching and then watched the march past, the gardens are so well kept and so interesting, each time I have been I am ceased to be amazed that there is always something new to see, it is free to get in, there is a very well stocked restaurant and a small café ample places to sit in the gardens would highly recommend a visit

Very interesting. There are some beautiful memorials and very poignant ones. No one is forgotton. The memorial to the Polish showed their great input in WW2, sadly though none of the text is in Polish which would have finished that honour in its entirety. "Shot at Dawn" is so very, very sad and well thought out and certainly grabs you emotionally that senseless loss. The large central memorial is truly accessible. The ramp to the top is barely noticeable. The monument has some amazing bronzes and is beautifully pure in style and design. Coffee shop and restaurant and toilet facilities are excellent as are the staff in all areas.

Such a lovely peaceful place, we visited during the autumn fair (our first visit 2019). The stalls were full of wonderful items and there were activities for the children.
Update: we visited today (our second visit) 26/7/20, we felt so safe and enjoyed our time there. They have organised the site well with social distancing and takeaway available from the restaurant. I can highly recommend visiting but you do need to book a time slot online.
Well done and thank you to the staff for making our experience stress and hassle free.
