I visited here on a freezing cold December day and it was glorious. Its a lovely walk around the various memorials and the main memorial at the top of the steps brings a tear to the eye. You can easily loose a couple of hours walking around, it's just so peaceful and serene. After the end of a very chilly few hours i warmed up in their little restaurant. Wonderful home made soup and cake with a drink for £7, no complaints from me on the food. Theres no fee to get in so please either make a donation or buy something in the restaurant.

we went to the national memorial arboretum yesterday for the 3rd time it just gets better and better. there is some wonderful memorials to all our brave lads that gave their lives in conflicts all around the world. you can walk round or take a land train and have a guided tour, either is just as good, there is a café restaurant a gift shop and a small church its all very touching. its free to go in as they rely on donations, its £3.00 to park all day and £5.00 to go round on the train. this place is well worth a visit for young and old alike.

We heard about this special place and decided to visit on route to Derby. There is plenty of parking across the road at a cost of £3.00 for the day. There is no entrance fee but you can make a donation. To access the grounds you need to go through the restaurant which as recently been refurbished. Walking round the extensive grounds gives you a sense of calm and tranquility. The wall of remembrance was especially touching as was the shot at dawn memorial. There are plenty of benches and picnic areas to rest and ponder on those who lost their lives for us.

Attended the commemoration service 70th Anniversary of VJ Day, in the beautiful landscape gardens of the arboretum. The service was beautiful and the grounds are full of over 300 memorials. It is free entry (car park charge) and there is a land train with commentary for those wanting to see the immense gardens in this way.
There are cafe and restaurant facilities and picnic areas.
It is a very peaceful tranquil place a fitting tribute. The Far East Prisoners of War Memorial Building houses an exhibition there is also a piece of the Burma Railway track. An emotional and educational day set in beautiful surroundings.

We started our visit with a 30 minute presentation by a guide who explained the history and layout of the site. We then got on the visitor train to have a guided trip around the site with each memorial being introduced and described. At various locations you could get off the tour train to have a look round and then get on the next train when it arrived. After the conducted tour we went to the restaurant area where we had an afternoon cream tea, which was excellent quality and value.
We were there for half a day, we will be going back for a further visit as there is so much to see.

What a moving experience to visit this Arboretum nothing depressing about the place it is not a graveyard! You can spend a day there and probably still not see it all.
It was also a personal visit for us as my husbands brother has his name on the Memorial wall. Although it is really busy with visitors you can still have quiet time as it is such a big place. You can take children and not be afraid of letting them touch the memorials as if you tell them about it they are learning, which keeps the next generation interested. Take a picnic plenty of places to sit or there is a cafe/restaurant. I would highly recommend a visit.

On arrival on site met by meet & greet staff o/s reception who gave a brief history of site & asked if we were there to see any special Memorial. They polite & informative.
We entered reception & then went to the road train as it was our first visit we thought it best to get an outline of the site.After train tour we went to the Chapel for the 2 minute silence & talk about site history.We enjoyed a very nice lunch in the Pavilion restaurant.
I would recommend the road train trip for anyone with walking problems Or on first visit to site.
Admission to site is by CASH Donation.

A marvellous day out. Great place to visit with all the war memorials. There is a train which takes visitors all round the site stopping at all the memorials and a lovely guide who explains all about them and answers any questions you may have. A lot of work is going on which should be finished soon to heighten ones enjoyment. A lovely meal - or snack - can be had in the restaurant which is clean and comfortable. The prices are very reasonable too. A visit to the large shop which has a lot of products and souvenirs rounds off the day. A must see attraction for all.

A beautiful place and worth visiting. I wanted to see the memorial to the DEMs as my Dad was a gunner on the merchant ships during World War 2. I'm sure many people have a personal reason for visiting and there are over 300 different memorials. It's all beautifully kept with plenty of seats and there's also a land train with commentary if you don't feel up to walking round the 150 acre site. The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. Many volunteers give their time to keep this running - well done to them all.

The national arboretum is very well placed just off the A38 it’s well signposted. There is a mixture of maturing trees and momorials to the armed forces set in the Staffordshire countryside. The only charge there is is for parking it cost us £3 the entrance is in a large building containing a shop,restaurant and reception. You have options to go on a guided tour or hire head phones we just used the free map and explored the expansive site. We said that we would revisit the site in a couple of years time all in all it’s well worth a visit
