I had wanted to go here for such a long time. This place is so much more than mere words can express. It's amazing, humbling, emotional and inspiring. I could go on and on but you must go for yourselves. I found memorials from all of my familys Regiments and paid my respects. You need a full day, don't go for an hour, we were there for 7 hours and we didn't see everything. A good pair of walking shoes and a back pack of water will do you just fine. There's a good restaurant and a coffee bar if you wish to eat. Go to the exhibition too not to be missed if just for the leaves and poppies on the floor..... you'll see. Just go....

We only stopped for a quick walk and use of the cafe, but ended up walking round most of the dog walking routes.
What an amazing place. Acres of well maintained grounds with memorials wherever you turn. It certainly makes you feel fortunate to be able to walk among the memorials of those who laid down their lives for others.
All the staff were friendly and helpful from gate to cafe to restaurant.
Restaurant food tasty and good value. Cafe cakes yummy (yes, we were there long enough to try both!) can sit outside under cover with the dogs at both.
Certainly somewhere to return when there are leaves on the trees.

Visited here with a friend and our babies under 1. Best walk I’ve ever been on. Every member of staff from those on the grounds to those in the restaurant went that extra mile . Majority of grounds are paved so suitable for pushchairs which is very handy this time of year. So many beautiful and informative memorials. The place is very big yet spotlessly clean. Can tell a lot of work and passion goes into the arboretum. Can’t believe I didn’t know this existed . Lots of parking, food was lovely and very resonantly priced and lots of parent and child parking. Will definitely be returning to make a donation.

A very moving venue. We have visited before but wanted to visit after VJ Day to see the beautiful flowers around the memorials. The layout is ideal for wheelchair users but be warned it is a huge area to cover in one visit. As entry is free, if you live locally don’t rush your visit. To access some of the tributes you need to cross the grass in places.
Good social distancing, excellent hygiene system in place in the restaurant and toilet facilities. The meal in the restaurant was just what we needed but at the moment it’s necessary to pre book on arrival. It was very good value for money.
The quality of the gifts in the shop is very high.
We will return.

Steve and I come here about monthly for evensong on a Friday evening. It is a wonderful way to end the working week. My own faith is shaky but evensong at Lichfield never fails to touch me on a spiritual level. The cathedral choir never fails to impress. The choice of music, delivery and discipline is an absolute joy to listen to and to watch. Withdraw from the hustle and bustle outside for 45 minutes. Say prayers for those in need. Listen to ethereal voices and light a candle to remember those we no longer see. Afterwards a nice romantic meal for two at one of the many excellent Lichfield restaurants or pubs is a perfect end to our week. X

Just amazing. All memorials are so well thought out. Very emotional. Benches are put around the arboretum for reflection and remembering. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It’s free entry but personally I think they should charge a small entrance fee. We went on the land train with commentary - very interesting and our driver was great.
If you are in the area do visit - you’ll need a good few hours to wander around and take it all in.
The restaurant is ok - probably wouldn’t eat there again - sandwiches were very dry - but we didn’t have any hot food which looked good.

We spent a lovely day here. We arrived at 10:30 and went tot he chapel for the 2 minute silence and then had pre booked the train. The train is great as it gives you an idea of the scale and where to go. We then had a volunteer guide who took us around the site for an hour and a half. This was booked at reception. It was just the two of us and was very interesting. All the staff are great, very knowledgably and very friendly. After that we walked around ourselves with no real plan moving left and right forward and back depending on what we saw. We eat at the restaurant food was good and clean and spent some time in the shop. A really great day out a place to contemplate and remember

This is my second visit and do seem to have seen more on the second time. Huge disappointment that the main memorial is closed for repair. Shame in this day and age there was no way of keeping a part open
It is a well cared for solemn place. Great to walk round. Books and guides available but they are complicated and not particularly user friendly. In the map it's all by number - needs to be alphabetical

Greeted at way in by volunteer who explains about the place. Free to go in and although they ask for donations, no pressure to give. A wide variety of memorials and types. Lovely well kept large open spaces. It says on the website about picnic areas, but I wasn't sure where to go so asked a volunteer who said you could use any of the benches. I thought they might not like that as it seemed a little disrespectful, but they said it was fine. It was a bit cold though. We had a drink and cake in the restaurant. Bit pricey, but nice. We went on the land train (£6 each). Well worth doing to get to see most of it, with a recorded commentary, especially if you are not that mobile. Nice shop as well.
