It is a beautiful, calm place for remembrance, but so much to see, do, and learn. We have visited it twice now, but plan to return as there is so much to see. You can easily spend a day here. There is a good cafe/restaurant. It's free to enter but they appreciate donations, and parking was £6 for the day. The staff are very friendly and helpful too.

Visiting the Arboretum is something that we’ve wanted to do for years. Putting excuses aside we finally made the time / made the effort / took the opportunity to visit this beautiful memorial.

The whole Arboretum is vast. It seems that every branch / part of the military and civilian services that made sacrifices are thoughtfully represented. From the very grand to the very subtle - all of the memorials are meaningful, poignant and thoughtful. We found the whole site thought provoking. We found the central National Memorial and the Shot At Dawn the most moving.

There are guides walking about the site - providing information where it’s needed. They’re very discreet and helpful.

The grounds around the central memorial are starting to mature and they are kept as a natural woodland with footpaths between each memorial. Walking around is easy on the generally flat walkways. There are plenty of benches around. Many are set back away from footpaths allowing visitors to spend a few minutes of quiet away from other visitors.

Without sounding overly dramatic. Even if you have no relatives or friends that served, we all owe a debt to the people who helped us. The Arboretum is a very special place that allows everyone to think about the sacrifices made for us all. We were surprised how moved we both were by our visit.
