I’ve not actually been here, though my Grandfather - a WW2 British naval veteran recommended it to me highly. But looking at a majority of 5-star reviews and a generous overall 4.8 Google score, I was fascinated to then examine the very small minority negative 1-star reviews. Let’s see how pathetic and querulous some of the general public are - after all this is just a war memorial, a place of reflection and contemplation; just a space for one to pay their respects to those brave souls who have fallen before us. Well apparently the place is non-dog friendly, thank you for that - like a pet animal can fathom public grief and social history.
My review, people are douche-bags and also ‘Google reviewing’ memorial spaces is frankly nonsensical; reviewing them badly is at best churlishly pedantic. Nice one.

What a moving, beautiful setting to remember our wonderful dead service people. The central setting really moved me emotionally. The statues of injured soldiers does put a lump in your throat.

A peaceful and inspiring place to wander around whether or not you have a specific memorial to visit (my dad was a Bevin Boy so that area was a must for us). We had a good weather day for each of our two visits, but you may need decent shoes, brolly etc. Surprising how far you can end up walking (though there is a land train and, I think, mobility scooters) but you can get a tea etc at the excellent visitor centre. Supremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff/volunteers (a big thank you to the lady who pointed out the divide in the wall through which the sun passes at 11:00 on 11/11 - an easily missed feature). Lots of subtle planting themes to look out for, too.

We visited for ride to the wall ( a motorcycle event but a memorial to the fallen soldiers) we very well maintained and a lovely memorial will be going again

We really like to visit the arboretum, well thought out with nice walks around the monuments. Very thought provoking and I would highly recommend a visit, nice food served in the cafe with very friendly staff and volunteers.
