We have been to the cathedral before, but went to see the Threads Through Creation exhibition, which was beautiful and thought provoking. Lichfield is a lovely city and the cathedral is worth a visit if you haven’t been before. It’s unique because of its three spires. I withheld a star because there was a lot of pressure to give the voluntary donation, which really felt more like an entry fee. I don’t mind giving and usually do, but the cathedral is a place of worship and prayer where people should not feel they can only enter if they can afford it. I know these places require a lot of funds for upkeep, but let’s remember their purpose.

Everybody should visit this memorial site. It is beautiful. It enables all to understand more about the sacrifices of services such as army, baby, airforce, RNLI, police. It also has memorials to others such as SANDS. Each is set in beautiful gardens with lots of seating.
Do take the land train ride around as it gives you a view and information about this huge site. Then you can walk to the parts you want to see closer.
The huge central memorial wall is amazing. Adk a guide to explain it to understand it more.
There is a good visitor centre with displays, gallery, shop, cafe.
Free to enter, pay for car park, land train.
Playground for children.
It is a huge place so allow at least half day.

Marvellous young trees; couples, families, tinies, cadets, old soldiers; at every turn another story of duty done. A new Stonehenge; a slot in the wall aligns with the sun at 11:00 11/11. The wall of remembrance since 1946 is just half full of names…
