Inspiring place to visit. Food available in Cafe?Restaurant at side of Cathedral. I regularly visit. Do pop across the road to the book shop next to which you can access the tranquility of the Erasmus Darwin garden as a bonus, and if it's open get into the house.

A stunning example of a Norman cathedral, and unique in that it has three spires, known as the Ladies of the Vale. The cathedral close is quiet and it also houses a private school, the bishop's palace, numerous houses belonging to the church, and a two cafes/coffee shop and a book shop. Parking is by permit only but there is a public car park very nearby. Both the interior and and exterior are stunning in every respect, but a donation is expected, and certain caretakers on the door can be quite forceful.

Stunning building with a very interesting history. Free to enter although they do expect you to make a donation. Quite a bit for the children to do too! The cafe just across the way (next to the Bishops House) has a lovely garden to enjoy the odd drink or 2.

I think this Cathedral is very underrated-ok lots of heavy handed Victorian restorations are in evidence but its still quite a stunning building- the three spires certainly make it stand out but the interior is atmospheric and during our visit the west door was open allowing more light to enter. I was also impressed with a warm welcome and very discrete requests for donations-not at all in your face which you often find- well worth a visit

We went to Litchfield Cathedral in June it was a beautiful summers day, the Cathedral is magnificent. As you wonder round you get sense of the history that has taken place there, we spoke to one of the canons at cathedral. He told us that during the civil war the cathedral was shelled from a public house not far where we stood and at that time the cathedral had a moat. As you gaze up at the spires you can see the third spire is not quite as old as the front, he went to say there had been a lot of bloodshed within the grounds during that time. The masonry work is truly beautiful and well worth a wonder round.

The cathedral is well worth a visit if you're in Lichfield. It's the only one in England with three spires and is awe-inspiring. I'm not particularly religious, but the scale and history of the building is fascinating. They also do an "angel hunt" leaflet for small children, which helps to keep them occupied and interested - and helped me to notice more! The whole town is beautiful, and the tea rooms just across from the cathedral were very good too. Will remember this day for a long time
