I didn't realise until I visited the National Memorial Arboretum, just how many wars our country has been involved in. It is a truly humbling experience.

My first visit since the refurbishment of the visitor centre. They have made a lovely job of it. Went on the land train this time and is well worth the £5 charge. The commentary is very informative and really does make you think. Try and catch the 11am service in the chapel.

If you can visit please do so. Its such a beautiful place. So quiet and sombre. You don't realise the loss of war sometimes but this really does open your eyes to the those who lost their lives for our country. Be it the army, police and many others they are all rembered here. I did break down at one point looking at the young ages of those in the 1st and 2nd world wars. Fighting for their country but never having lived their lives.
Please make some time to visit the auditorium it's well worth it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were surprised by the size of the site and variety of memorials. We didn't take the land train but made our own way around the site. A better map, with a list of the memorials with their grid coordinates would have helped and would have resulted in a 5 * rating. Having said that the staff were very helpful and were able to guide us to the specific sites we wanted to see. The main memorial is very impressive and some of the smaller exhibits/statues/memorials were equally well executed.
Entrance is free. Parking is £3. The land train was additional as were a few exhibits but we focussed on the main site where there was so much to see. We spent about 5 hours here. There is a nice reasonably priced cafe.

the ease of access , coupled with the enthusiasm of the staff, especially Clare, who was on the reception desk.when we arrived, Clare was able to help local the persons position at the various memorials, and gave a detailed map with directions. a must if you intend visiting . our only regret was we were unable to stay very long. to appreciate the memorial one really needs a full day or two. cannot impress enough, this is a definite go to place for ALL British and overseas visitors .

The Lichfield cathedral is a beautiful site to see, the architecture is amazing and the history behind it is fascinating too.
The grounds and surrounding buildings are well maintained and on sunny day beautiful to just sit and admire the cathedral, guided tours are available of the cathedral and still performs services which I think think is good as it is a cathedral and place of worship.
There are also parks close by which themselves are well maintained having beautifully arranged flower beds and water features as well as a few cafes and plenty of benches a nice place to have picnic, it is very close to the town centre were you can shop and dine at the wide variety of restaurants and quaint cafes.
It is well worth having a look at and very interesting to learn the history behind it definitely would go see again as everything is close by and lots to do!

Went to a very pleasant organ recital with a video in the organ loft so that we could see the organist on a screen. Next day went to have a look round - will be really worth a visit next spring when the windows are reinstalled.

What a wonderful and beautiful cathedral. I have family ties to it (mom inherited an etching and we later found out dad's side helped with the Skidmore screen), so we just had to pitstop to see it while in the UK. So glad we did! A nice sidenote is that it is donation-only, so you can give what you can afford, as opposed to other cathedrals charging 15 pounds to visit.
