Thursday 27th November 7.30pm
Julie Sassoon
Julie Sassoon transcends classical piano and jazz, treading her own path between the solo jazz improvisation of Keith Jarrett and the piano music of 20th century composers Philip Glass and Steve Reich. Her music is lyrical, dramatic and packed with emotion and her performances are a powerful experience. The music for tonight's concert is taken from her latest album Land of Shadows, inspired by the experiences of her Jewish grandmother in Germany in the first half of the 20th Century and is by turns, powerful, rhythmic and lyrical, with a unique beauty.
