Having just returned from what was supposed to be a stress free family break to Alton Towers, We have never felt so stressed !
After paying for bed and breakfast at Alton Towers Hotel you would at least expect to get inside the restaurant and get your breakfast ! But after waiting nearly one hour to even get a foot in the door im afraid it was bags packed and two hungry children in the car, heading to the golden arches, that is Mcdonald's!
Forty minutes later and still no Mcdonald's in sight we find ourselves taking a sharp exit into Stafford services. Having checked out the menu in the so called restaurant , we decided to go for the full english and cerials for the little ones. Oh yes and two tea's please ! What followed astounded me. Eighteen pounds !! i nearly hit the floor. So having handed my money over to the man behind the till (with a very angered look on my face) we went over to the table sat down and began to pour the tea, that was when enough was enough the tea was freezing cold ! the eggs were cold the beans were cold, in fact the whole breakfast was cold ! in fact i think my son's milk was warmer.
It was then we left the services and headed home were we knew we would get some decent food for a fraction of the cost and not have to wait an hour for it ! (our home).
So all day i have been thinking about the poor lorry driver's, courier's, travelling rep's in fact anybody who has to travel on our roads everyday, and be subjected to such robbery ! from our motorway services. Surely something has to be done about this. How do these people survive if they have to stop and eat !
Anyway if anyone else has had an annoying experience over the weekend feel free to vent your frustrations.
