Dalglish skirted around the issue last weekend, but has now said that Gerrard will not be playing for Liverpool again this season. There are also serious doubts as to whether he will be able to play in England’s Euro 2012 qualifier in June.
Gerrard had surgery on his groin to help solve an issue which has plagued his football career since he was a teenager. The surgery he underwent back in March was thought to be successful and it was suggested that he would to be able to get back on the pitch within four weeks.
The midfielder has to undergo further tests as the medical team are unsure as to what the precise problem is. There is a possibility that Gerrard will have to go back under the knife, and more details about his injury will not be available until precise details from the specialists have been reported.
The Liverpool manager has refused to give further insight claiming it would be wrong to give out misinformed information which may be misleading. He went on to say that Liverpool will not be happy to settle for sixth place in the league and stated that they need to improve in order to aim higher.
Liverpool Football club also has to deal with further problems as both Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly have been ruled out of playing for three weeks due to hamstring injuries.
