There is a good chance that Everton's Phil Jagielka will play for England alongside skipper John Terry this Saturday. England will be meeting Wales in the Euro 2010 qualifier where they hope to move to the top of Group G. Despite England being considered to be superior against wales, Jagielka spoke about how the England team were wary about Saturday’s game. He stated that although they were the better team on paper, the actual game took place on the pitch.
Besides the qualifier Jagielka is hoping that he will also be involved in the game against Ghana at Wembley on Wednesday. Things are looking great for the player who has recently signed a new four year contract to stay playing for Everton. Having dreamt about playing for England he is doing all he can to make sure he is up there defending for England at any given opportunity. He is hopeful that he will be able to increase his handful of caps and be involved in The Euros, but only time will tell.
Jagielka said that as an England fan he was pleased to see so many options for England Boss to choose from when it comes to selecting the team. Mentioning Rio and John Terry he also paid tribute to the talents of Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott and Micheal Dawson.
Steven Gerrard will be sitting Saturday’s game out as he is still recovering from his groin surgery from earlier this month. This means that Gareth Barry, Jack Wilshere, Scott Parker and Frank Lampard will all be hoping to be included in the starting squad.
