Liverpool Given Extra Time to Apply for Royal Wedding Parties
13th April 2011

The decision to extend the time was made after the council received just ten applications to throw a party to celebrate the Royal Wedding which takes place on April 29. The deadline now ends on Friday April 15 so if you would like to celebrate in style it is not too late to start planning.

The Royal Wedding between Prince William and the new style icon Kate Middleton has resulted in an extra bank holiday.  Many children are having less than 7 days in school during April and are looking forward to experiencing their first ever Royal Wedding.

The Health and Safety Executive have recently told party organisers not to let health and safety fears stop them from going ahead and creating an event for this momentous occasion.  If you are in any doubt about your responsibilities and licenses needed there is some great information available on their website to alleviate fears.

David Cameron also told the public not to worry about the red tape which some council are imposing.  He warned councils to stop getting in the way of parties and giving false information regarding the licenses needed.

In most cases there should be nothing stopping parties, although you will need to apply for the roads to be closed if you wish to have a street party with friends and neighbours. Liverpool roads will need to be supplied for official road closure signs and the council will also need to plan alternative routes for vehicles as well as informing the emergency services of the changes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to spend a day that will be remembered and treasured for may years to come.  If you would like to hold your own street party contact the council before Friday April 15 and get your party planning started!
