EXCLUSIVE!
Marine FC are again proud winners of the Football Foundation Community Club of The Year.
Barry Lenton went to the NEC yesterday to receive the award. Susan Nugent, assistant community officer, went with him and her two of her sons, Tom and Joe.
Here is a quote from Barry although Paul Leary will issue a press release shortly:
"It's a great honour to win this prestigious award for the second consecutive year. Since we won it last season, things have really taken off. Everyone on Merseyside it seems knows we are the Community Club of The Year and it has raised our profile even more. we are so happy to win it again and we'd love to make it a hat trick next year.
"Whereas I worked hard collecting 919 pairs of boots for the Boots For Afrcia Appeal and engaging local schools to boost support, I was assisted by others like Peter McCormrack who organised the Sefton's Got Talent contest to raise funds for the Plaza. He also organised a sponsored bike ride to Nantwich Town for MS research. As well as this, there was the Ladies Midnight Walk for the Jospice and various footballing events for our junior fans.
"I think that there were few clubs at our level that have put in as many hours as Marine has to raise its profile in the community and the award is a fitting one for everyone concerned.
