Cllr June Ford has secured the role of the new Mayor of Lowestoft. This follows a meeting of the Lowestoft Charter Trustees.
June will take the place of Cllr Nick Webb in the role. June's old deputy mayor's role will go to Cllr Malcolm Cherry.
Elected to Waveney District Council in May 2011, June represented the people of Kirkley in Lowestoft with her colleagues.
June has lived in Lowestoft for over 50 years where she brought up her large family and was manager of a high street shop before retiring. She is an active member of the U3A (University of the 3rd Age).
New Mayor of Lowestoft, June, said when interviewed: "I am very much looking forward to the next 12 months and I am very grateful that councillors have put their trust in me. I will do my very best to be a good ambassador for this wonderful historical town."
