We held a Social media Workshop last night at The Aspire Centre in Lowestoft and it was a real eye-opener...
The businesses that attended come from a pretty diverse background but it didn't take long to see how using social media could help each and every one of them.
It's simple... Social media is here to stay whether you like it or not! You may not be fussed about Facebook, taken by Twitter, in love with LinkedIn but thousands of people in and around Lowestoft are.
Here's one little fact that should get you thinking:
There are approximately 30 million people in the UK that use Facebook - that's half the population. Now use that for Lowestoft and Waveney. There are around 120000 people living in this area and that means that 60000 of them use Facebook!
And they're using Facebook at all times of the day and night. For some it's the last thing they do before lights out and its the first thing they do in the morning before even getting out of bed...
Just think about that... Your message could be the last thing that one of your 'fans' reads before slipping into a slumber. That's a pretty powerful way of getting into their heads you know.
And they're getting your message on their PC, their laptop, iPad or smartphone - wherever they are and at anytime of day or night.
It's getting to the point now where if you miss out on using social media you'll also miss out on getting or even retaining customers. You really don't want your competitors to steal a march on you.
