Today saw the Tour of Britain Cycle Race [VIDEO] hurtle through the streets of Lowestoft on its way from Ipswich to Norwich.
Something like this coming within a few hundred metres of home was too good an opportunity to miss. So the present Mrs C and I headed off to the roundabout on Oulton Road / Millennium Way as this seemed an ideal spot to see the cyclists as they skirted the roundabout.
And we weren't the only ones thinking this. In the half hour before the peloton arrived the numbers of spectators grew to around 500. It was great to see so many people turn out to cheer on the Tour of Britain cyclists including Bradley Wiggins.
In the distance we could hear sirens which heralded the approach of the leading pack. Police and event marshall motorcyclists led the way, stopping traffic before advancing ahead towards Yarmouth.
The leaders passed by in an instant followed by support vehicles and more police motorcyclists, the applause of the crowd carrying them along.
And then silence... Was that it? Five blokes in lycra pedalling like stink! Can't be...
Minutes later and we were treated to the spectacle that was the Tour of Britain peloton as it zoomed it's way past us and out of Lowestoft.
I was amazed at the number of support vehicles, outriders and even an RAC breakdown repair van!
