Shropshire Wildlife Trust protects wildlife where you live. We are the county's leading environmental charity, supported by 10,500 members. With strength of numbers and over 50 years of experience behind us we are an increasingly effective champion for local wildlife.

Did you know that the Trust ...

  • Cares for 38 nature reserves, including woods, meadows and wetland bird havens.
  • Welcomes people on to its nature reserves.
  • Campaigns to persuade developers and local authorities to respect our natural environment.
  • Encourages people to enjoy nature with walks, talks and events in town and country.
  • Brings thousands of schoolchildren in touch with nature through school grounds projects and trips to nature reserves.
  • Has local branches around the county.
  • Involves volunteers in all aspects of its work

Shropshire Wildlife Trust is an independent, autonomous charity with its own trustees. It is also part of The Wildlife Trusts, the largest grouping of charitable organisations in the United Kingdom concerned with the conservation of the whole of the UK's natural world.

We have over 40 members of staff; both full and part-time. Some 400 volunteers help carry out the work of the Trust, keeping nature reserves in shape, gardening, running local branches of the Trust, helping in the office and acting as trustees.

The Trust is based in Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury. We are open to visitors from Monday - Saturday, 10am - 4.30pm. Here you can find out more about our work, explore the garden and browse in the shop.
