Tradition has it that in the fourteenth century soldiers from Ludlow Castle came here to match their horses. There is certainly a record of racing in 1729.The course retains not only its Edwardian character but also a club atmosphere. Though now a National Hunt course, the hurdles track is for a large part separate and follows for 1 mile of the original flat course
