Over Saturday and Sunday 1st and 2nd November, (a week earlier this year due to the availability of a match referee) the Leicestershire Team attended the 33rd Championships – this being the 9th year we have taken part.
It is often said that August can be wet and so it proved to be at the start of the day of our Big Bike Ride. However we had blue sky and scattered clouds during the event allowing us to exceed last year’s figure of those who took part giving us 420 cyclists who rode one of the four courses offered – 11, 23, 39 or 62 miles.
Did you know we are the most successful team in the English Disabled Sports Team Championship. We have had four wins in seven years. The team comprises of both juniors and adults.
With the Rotary Disabled Sports Championship coming up on Saturday/Sunday 9th/10th November its good to be able to report that Patrick Cox from Blaby at the age of twelve has just won 3 Gold Medals.
On Sunday 18th August some 400 cyclists enjoyed the extended summer weather by taking part in the second Lutterworth Big Bike Ride organised by
Lutterworth Rotary Club.
Athletic were all on for causing the upset of the season when, on 65 minutes, Danny Laywood, the league’s leading scorer, stepped up to what could have been a two-nil advantage against previously unbeaten Barrow Town.
