Admissions are now open for a new-style school where students could land themselves paid work placements with big name firms. Students in Year 10 can apply through the Leicestershire Applications portal and Year 12 students can download an application from the school’s website.
Today also marks the start of a consultation where people can express their views about the new school and its plans. A copy of the consultation document can be downloaded from the bottom of this blog.
The Sir Frank Whittle Studio School is set to open next September and students are now able to apply for a limited number of places: 75 are available for Year 10 students and 35 for Year 12.
Andrew Cooper, Executive Principal of The Lutterworth Academies Trust which sponsors the new school and also runs Lutterworth College, commented;
“This is a unique opportunity for students to follow courses with industry-specific training in engineering, retail and logistics or leisure and tourism alongside GCSE’s in English, Maths, Science and a variety of other subjects. We think the mix of high quality academic and vocational learning, in new state of the art facilities, will inspire students to achieve well."
The Sir Frank Whittle Studio School will be a 14-19 academy with a maximum size of 300 students offering specialist routes in Engineering, Travel & Tourism and Retail & Logistics and is based in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. In the first year admissions will be available to students starting Year 10 and Year 12.
