Lutterworth Athletic's FA Vase run came to an end on Saturday against a well organised and disciplined Oadby Town. In the end it was a little bit of class from ex-city player Jon Stevenson who fired home a superb free kick to put Oadby two nil up after conceding in the first five minutes.
Athletic did respond with a late Mark English penalty but that was all too little too late.
Oadby did a good job on us, they stopped us playing and closed us down at every opportunity. That, along with a little bit of class at the right time, made the difference, but we’ve come a long way, the experience will set us in good stead for the future. I wish Oadby all the best for the next round.
I’m very proud of what the lads have achieved in the cup but we now must get our heads back on the league which is the most important thing for the club this year.
I'm the Chairman of Lutterworth Athletic FC.
