Launch of 2012 Competition!
Calling all young people 8 to 18 years with a creative idea to represent your opinions. It's time for your views to be counted on things that affect you and those around you - whether positive or negative, local, national or global.
This local competition is inspired by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and in particular Article 12 which says that children and young people have a right to have their views heard, and taken seriously.
Enter as a group or individual - using any creative means from film, poem, story, picture, model, song, composition, photograph, animation, voice recording etc etc. See entry form available from the contact for details. Deadline for entries is 19th October 2012, with the Awards Ceremony taking place on 2nd November 2012.
Certificates for all finalists and prizes for category winners, with an overall Speak Out trophy for one competition winner.
The Awards ceremony for 2011 was held at Harborough District Council Chambers in October 2011. Over 70 people, including local MP's, Councillors, young people, teachers and parents, attended what was a great celebration of young people's rights to have their views heard.
