The Sir Frank Whittle Studio School has appointed Paul Hostead, 35, to the post of Head of School. From January, he will work with Executive Principal, Andrew Cooper, who also leads Lutterworth College, to launch the school which opens in September 2014.
Prior to starting a career in education, Paul worked in industry as a Business Analyst and Project Manager working for the UK’s largest supermarket chain. He trained to be a teacher at Warwick University and joined Lutterworth College as a Newly Qualified Teacher in 2005. During his time at the College he was promoted to the role of Assistant Principal with responsibility for Applied and Vocational education which has received national and international recognition.
Paul Hostead told us: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the first Headteacher of the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School. With specialisms in Retail & Logistics, Engineering and Travel & Tourism the school offers a unique opportunity to the young people of South Leicestershire.
It is exciting to be undertaking my first Headship in a new school that will have state of the art facilities for our students. Being a small school of 300 I am particularly looking forward to getting to know all of the students and their parents and working with them to achieve the best outcomes possible.
I have enjoyed meeting prospective students and their parents at our first open evening and it’s great to see so many people as excited as I am by the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School.”
Executive Principal, Andrew Cooper commented: ‘I am delighted to be working with Paul. He has played a key role in our successful application to the Department of Education and I know he will be a very successful Headteacher.”
The school will have further open evenings on the 6th and 19th of November and has 75 places in Year 10 and 35 in Year 12 in the first year of opening.
