A Danny Laywood brace scored in either half between a well taken goal from Jack Sutherland was enough to see Athletic through to the quarter finals of the Senior Cup.
With the tie switched to Hall Park because of flooding in Sileby, overnight frost made playing conditions tricky.
Athletic dominated possession in the early stages without causing the Sileby keeper too many problems, then in 10 minutes goals from Sutherland and Laywood changed the game.
Sileby did edge the second half and pulled one back before Laywood finished clinically to make it 3 – 1.
Athletic lost their unbeaten run when they were beaten 4 – 2 away at Aylestone Park.
