This Remembrance Sunday also happens to fall exactly on Armistice Day, when the Two Minute Silence is observed at 11am – the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the moment when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War in 1918.
This year, the Royal British Legion has embraced the internet and social media to support the Act of Remembrance and, in a unique digital initiative, invites supporters to show their support via Facebook and/or Twitter.
To opt in to this initiative, which will release a 'stockpile' of tweets and updates in a simultaneous expression of support across British social media channels, visit the RBL website and follow the link from the home page.
At 9am on Sunday 11 November, in advance of the Two Minute Silence, supporters’ Twitter and/or Facebook account will automatically issue the message "I'll be remembering the fallen at 11 o'clock #2MinuteSilence #LestWeForget
The Legion is determined that by encouraging everyone to join in one simultaneous social media message, few will forget to remember the fallen.
Helen Hill, Head of Remembrance at The Royal British Legion commented, "We hope to create the largest ever show of online Remembrance by using the communicative power of social media to remind millions of Britons that they have a very personal opportunity to honour the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice."

More than three quarters of the UK population are expected to pause for the Two Minute Silence at 11am on 11 November - this has become the biggest annual demonstration of public support for any cause in the country.
