The work, which is expected to take three nights to complete, is to start on Saturday 10 November.
All activity will take place overnight between 8pm and 10am at the weekend and between 8pm and 6am on weekdays. During the work, the M1 southbound between junctions 20 to 19 and the entry slip road at Junction 20 will be closed overnight.
While work is underway, southbound traffic should exit at junction 20 and travel west on the A4303. At the Cross Hand roundabout, traffic should take the A426 and travel south towards M6 junction 1. Traffic should then join the M6 eastbound to rejoin the M1 at junction 19.
A Highways Agency spokesperson said: “The work has been carefully planned to be delivered when traffic levels are at their lowest. This essential work will improve driving conditions for motorists and prolong the life of the carriageway.”
More information about the work is available from the Highways Agency Information Line on telephone number 0300 123 5000 or by e-mail to: ha_info@highways.gsi.gov.uk
