A week of tributes to Macclesfield Town’s former manager, Keith Alexander culminated on Saturday during the team’s two-nil home win over Bury.
Fans showed their respects to the club’s recently deceased boss with a ‘hats off to Keith’ tribute at Moss Rose. Five hundred specially commissioned baseball caps like those worn by Alexander were on sale at the game, with all money from the sales paid into the Keith Alexander Memorial Fund until the club decides on which particular charities it would like to help.
A single wreath was laid at the dugout before the match and all those in attendance observed a one minute standing ovation in honour of the much-missed manager before kickoff.
Dignitaries and representatives from all the clubs he has managed – Ilkeston Town, Northwich Victoria, Peterborough, Bury, and Lincoln - were also in attendance and gave floral tributes.
